My name is Sam Peterson.  I was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin where I lived for seventeen years with my parents and younger sister.  I went to college in Minneapolis, Minnesota where I earned a degree in elementary education and a minor in English.  After college, I took a teaching job in Las Vegas, Nevada where I taught seventh grade reading for two years.  I had a great time in Vegas but decided to slow down a bit and come to Tucson to be closer to my family and settle in with a great school and my bulldog Layla.  This is where La Cima comes in...  I am very excited to be at La Cima.  It is an absolutely great school filled with an amazing group of teachers and students with endless potential.  I look forward to a fantastic year with everyone from the La Cima family and am ready to work with my students to reach our goals and then some this year!

I absolutely love to read!  Reading is one of the simplest joys in life, but in my opinion it is also one of the greatest.  I am in the process of becoming a published author of children's literature.  It is a long and difficult task but I'm confident that it will happen eventually.  I enjoy sports very much.  If it is on ESPN, I'm watching it.  Also, relaxing at a coffee shop with a warm mug and a crisp newspaper is high on my list of Saturday activities.  But enough about me....

In Language Arts this year we are going to cover many great works of literature as well as explore the writing process.  Rather than give you a long list of work that we are going to be doing, I thought it would be best to break it down one month at a time.  On this website you will be able to see what we will be covering during the current month.  Also, I will update this page weekly with the work that will be happening for the week.  Parents, feel free to use this site to keep up to date with your child's work.  Please note that my contact information is listed above on this page.  I love to hear from parents, and you will also be hearing from me throughout the year with some of the great things that your child is doing in my class.  Thank you for taking to time to look up this website.  Lets have a great year together!

This Week in Room 305...

  •  "The Veldt" -- This is a science fiction story in which a family lives in a futuristic time where everything is done for you.  While having everything done for you may sound like a wonderful future to look towards, we find that it might not be all that it is cracked up to be.
